SMART is a drug and alcohol service, based in Gateshead in the north east of England, across the river from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
SMART stands for 'Substance Misuse Awareness Raising and Treatment' and covers the range of activities this youth service provides - i.e. anything from raising awareness of drug and alcohol use/ misuse and it's affects on young people to treatment of drug and alcohol issues through a co-ordinated package of care delivered to the young person.
The service is specifically for young people aged 18 and under, living in the Gateshead area who have substance misuse, traditionally referred to as 'substance abuse', issues. SMART are a friendly team dedicated to addressing substance misuse needs in young people in Gateshead and can meet you in a place most convenient to your needs- be that in our centrally located office near the metro interchange in Gateshead town centre, or a youth club, school or other venue.
